The URSB team joined Carteret residents for the town’s annual Earth Day Celebration at Carteret Park. While the event featured food trucks, live music, a wellness expo, and various environmental activities, our team was focused on one important mission: beautifying the park’s picnic area for the upcoming summer season.

Led by URSB President and CEO Ken Totten, our volunteers painted more than 20 picnic tables throughout the park. Team members Peter, Tina, Heather, Corey, Andrea (along with three of her siblings), Milagros, and Ankita worked alongside Carteret Councilman AJ Johal to complete this community service project.

“As a mutual bank, our commitment to Carteret extends far beyond providing financial services,” said Totten. “Events like this Earth Day celebration give us the opportunity to roll up our sleeves and make tangible improvements to the shared spaces that bring our community together.”

The picnic table restoration project was part of the larger “Adopt-a-Park Cleanup” initiative organized by Mayor Dan Reiman’s office. Other Earth Day activities included a clothing drive, reusable bag collection for local food pantries, and educational sessions with borough recycling representatives.

For URSB, community involvement has been a cornerstone of our banking philosophy since 1914. As Carteret’s hometown bank, we believe that investing time and resources into local initiatives creates stronger connections with the residents and businesses we serve each day.

We invite community members to enjoy the newly refreshed picnic areas at Carteret Park throughout the upcoming spring and summer seasons. To learn more about URSB’s community initiatives or to get involved in future volunteer opportunities, please contact our main branch at 732-541-5445.
