Summary: The Accounting Assistant is responsible for supporting the financial functions of URSB with respect to settlement, review of General Ledger and Deposit Account activity generated by transactions from the ClearTouch core banking system and among various correspondent banks. The Accounting Assistant as part of the overall financial team of URSB is actively involved in and responsible for the maintenance of periodic review, timely and accurate reconciliation of activity and establishing andmaintaining URSB’s fiscal record keeping system applying generally accepted accounting principles. The primary function for this role isthe daily posting to the Prologue General Ledger followed by the daily reconciliation of select GL accounts.

The Accounting Assistant is also responsible for the Accounts Payable function of URSB with respect to understanding and applying established controls andprocesses addressing the handling, document flow and proper payment of invoices received by URSB including receipt of required approvals, payment generation, funding of disbursements and all other processes contained within the Accounts Payable function.

Additionally, the Accounting Assistant ensures that department activities run smoothly and efficiently, with respect to interactions and documentation, providing information that may be needed by other departments, ensuring compliance with Bank policies and procedures.

The Accounting Assistant assists in attaining established Bank and department goals, assisting the treasurer and other staff members as necessary in performing department responsibilities, coordinating schedules for effective department staff coverage. May perform specific duties in the absence of the Treasurer. Assures compliance with applicable state and federal banking regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
● Compiles various financial reports that are submitted to the Treasurer, CFO or other groups or recipients on a periodic basis.
● Ensure full understanding of the general ledger chart of accounts and cost center structure for appropriate Companies.
● Responsible to create and maintain appropriate general ledger reports including electronic storage in Prologue for authorized activities.
● Responsible for review of activity derived from daily cash management at the FRB, FHLB or other correspondent banks and preparation / posting of transactional data files for upload to the books and records of URSB.
● Maintains accounting files and records for investment securities transactional activity.
● Complete daily, monthly or other defined time period periodic reconciliations for designated Cash, Bank Account and General Ledger accounts to ensure transactions reconcile to the general ledger as required. Ensure accurate posting / reporting of transactions, manage the follow up on out of balance items to resolve problems.
● Reviews, recommends, and initiates corrective actions.
● Ensures department compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations.
● Gathers and calculates data associated with the preparation of various routine and special financial statements and reports, reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness, highlighting critical areas for further review.
● Collect invoices and ensure we are not paying anything twice. Communicate with vendors regarding open invoices and check status.
● Assist executive assistant with any concerns regarding vendors.
● Assists other branch and departments in resolving issues or inquiries, providing support as needed.
● Assists the Treasurer or CFO by assuring audit compliance and procedure quality control are maintained for the department.
● Responds effectively to inquiries or refers inquiries to the appropriate department or person.
● Performs in a backup capacity to the Treasurer in authorized areas as needed.
● Performs other tasks as assigned.

– Competence with computers.
– Effective written and verbal communication skills.
– Demonstrate effective leadership, managerial and supervisory skills.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor or higher degree
• Minimum 3 years of Banking Finance / Accounting experience.
